New Large Square Baler Series

The new Krone BiG Pack HighSpeed range of large square balers delivers up to 20 percent more throughput, an increase that has been made feasible by two major modifications: an increase in throughput capacity of the Variable Fill System (VFS) packer system and an increase in plunger strokes.

The BiG Pack VFS now has five tine bars versus six tine bars on previous models. This allows for more space for crop in the VFS resulting in an increase in throughput capacity of 18 percent. The system operates in five stages to feed the material into the pre-chamber where it is compressed before it is allowed to enter the baling chamber. When the pre-chamber is filled with material the new cam-controlled sensing rake is pushed out of the VFS chamber, a system that ensures that the machine produces uniform, dense bales, even when dealing with small and narrow swaths.

The second major modification is to the number of plunger strokes. On the BiG Pack 1270, 1290 and 1290 HDP, plunger strokes have been increased by 18 percent from 38 to 45 strokes per minute.  This also contributes to the 20 percent more throughput of these balers.

Further upgrades involve a larger diameter knotter shaft, which increased in size by 15mm to 55mm, wear plates that are bolted onto the bottom of the bale chamber to reduce the cost of wear in this area, and the new color touchscreen monitor that gives the operator a full overview of machine functions.

The twine boxes have also received some nice updates. They now have gas struts that allow operators to swing them up and fix them in their opened position for easy access to the baler for service and maintenance. The box is also sealed to keep dust and debris out and away from the twine. LED lights, which are activated when the panels are opened, illuminate the area where the twine is threaded into the system.

Krone EasyCollect 1053

The new Krone EasyCollect 1053 corn head is able to harvest 14 rows of crop at a 35 foot work width and then fold into three-layers for narrow transport. EasyCollect 1053 utilizes the well-proven and award-winning Krone Collector. It’s modular, endless collector design leads to a substantial reduction in the number of components and drive systems, thus reducing weight and power requirements.

The EasyCollect Collector works on the following principle: It feeds the crop to the middle of the machine without the crop ever changing direction, passing very smoothly through the header and into the machine – a system that warrants dependable operation in all conditions. It presents the stems perpendicular to the chopping assembly, which results in exceptional chopping quality. Testing and user experience bear evidence that the EasyCollect feed principle improves the quality of chop. As another plus, The EasyCollect 1053 is equipped with tungsten carbide coated, self-sharpening knives.

All EasyCollect headers that operate on BiG X forage harvesters are equipped with the AutoScan system where an optical sensor adjusts the chop length automatically to the maturity of the crop. The photo-optical sensor is integrated in the corn head, where it compares the color of the leaves to determine the maturity of the crops (dark green = high moisture level, brown = low moisture level). Based on these scans, the electronic system then computes and sets the optimum chop length. The benefits are obvious – green corn (i.e. high moisture) is automatically chopped to longer lengths to maintain the structure of the forage whereas brown corn (i.e. dry) is chopped to shorter lengths to increase silage density and avoid fermentation in the pit.

Split into three sections, the EasyCollect header “sandwiches” quickly and easily into transport position at the touch of a button to give a low transport height and a narrow 11 foot 9 inch transport width.

New Krone EasyFlow Pick-Up Head

Krone is releasing a new pick-up head for their BiG X forage harvester, the EasyFlow 380. The EasyFlow 380 still boasts the innovative camless pick-up, but it has been updated with a new crop roller that has a revised contour and a repositioned deflector plate which improve the crop flow. Offering an adjustable clearance for the crop roller, the pick-up now adjusts even better to varying swath widths. For maximum longevity, the wearing plates in the crop flow area are now made of stainless steel and hardox.

The new EasyFlow 380 pick-up head for the BiG X is available in a 12 foot 5 inch working width.
